ANTHROPOLOGIST PROPOSES CANNIBALISM AS SOLUTION TO OVERPOPULATION

MILWAUKEE—A professor at the University of Wisconsin says that cannibalism is the best, most organic solution for overpopulation, simply because most people’s revulsion to the idea would make them less likely to procreate in the first place. Dr. John Donner, who has an associate degree in culinary arts in addition to his doctorate in anthropology, also notes that throughout history, different peoples have practiced cannibalism, though often as a last resort during famines or wars. That, he said, shows that if the thought alone isn’t enough to keep people in check, the practice itself is doable. But, he said, what makes cannibalism potentially delectable today is social media, like Facebook, where people post countless food photos. “All of a sudden,” he said, “a ‘food selfie’ isn’t simply vanity.” He acknowledges that his colleagues have threatened to chew him up and spit him out—but he views that as their support of his off-flavored proposal.
